Background of the Study
Supply chain information systems (SCIS) have become critical for managing the complexities of modern logistics and operations. These systems rely heavily on digital infrastructures that are increasingly vulnerable to cybersecurity threats such as hacking, ransomware, and data breaches. Companies like Lafarge Africa, which depend on seamless data flow across supply chain networks, face significant risks when cybersecurity measures are inadequate (Adewale & Usman, 2024).

In Taraba State, Lafarge Africa's supply chain relies on information systems for real-time communication, inventory tracking, and decision-making. Disruptions due to cybersecurity risks can lead to financial losses, reputational damage, and operational inefficiencies. This study investigates these risks and their implications for Lafarge Africa (Okon & Musa, 2023).

Statement of the Problem
Cybersecurity threats have become a growing concern for supply chain information systems, yet many companies lack comprehensive strategies to mitigate these risks. For Lafarge Africa, any breach in SCIS could compromise data integrity and disrupt supply chain processes. The lack of empirical data on the specific impact of cybersecurity risks on Lafarge Africa's operations in Taraba State necessitates this study (Ibrahim & Ezekiel, 2024).

Objectives of the Study

  1. To identify the types of cybersecurity risks affecting supply chain information systems at Lafarge Africa.
  2. To evaluate the impact of cybersecurity threats on supply chain performance.
  3. To recommend strategies for enhancing cybersecurity in Lafarge Africa’s SCIS.

Research Questions

  1. What are the common cybersecurity risks impacting SCIS at Lafarge Africa?
  2. How do cybersecurity threats affect supply chain performance?
  3. What strategies can mitigate cybersecurity risks in Lafarge Africa’s SCIS?

Research Hypotheses

  1. H0: Cybersecurity risks do not significantly affect SCIS at Lafarge Africa.
  2. H0: Cybersecurity threats do not significantly disrupt supply chain performance.
  3. H0: Implementing enhanced cybersecurity measures does not significantly improve SCIS security.

Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on Lafarge Africa's supply chain operations in Taraba State, emphasizing cybersecurity risks and their impact on information systems. Limitations include the sensitivity of data and access restrictions to proprietary cybersecurity frameworks.

Definitions of Terms

  1. Cybersecurity Risks: Potential threats to digital systems, including hacking, phishing, and malware.
  2. Supply Chain Information Systems (SCIS): Integrated digital platforms for managing supply chain processes.
  3. Data Breach: Unauthorized access to sensitive or confidential information.
